A few spring days have finally arrived in the city! And with the good weather I've taken the opportunity to clean and organize the closet as you can see in the following photos. And it's that, under the motto 'less is more' I always try to have it as clean and tidy as possible by following three simple steps that I'll tell you below. I hope you like it and that it inspires you! ;)

CÓMO MANTENER EL ARMARIO LIMPIO Y ORDENADO EN TRES SENCILLOS PASOS

// ¡Por fin han llegado algunos días primaverales a la ciudad! Y con el buen tiempo he aprovechado para hacer limpieza y organización del armario tal y como veis en las siguientes fotos. Y es que, bajo el lema 'menos es más' intento tenerlo siempre lo más limpio y ordenado posible siguiendo tres sencillos pasos que os cuento a continuación. ¡Espero que os guste y que os sirva de inspiración! ;)

STEP 1. SEPARATE BY ZONES

It's very important to have the wardrobe separated by zones, as far as possible! since it always helps me to maintain order and also makes cleaning easier. For example, if you share a closet you can separate an area for each one, and within that space, separate your clothes by color and according to their use: to work, to play sports, to be at home, and also separate shoes and accessories (bags , cosmetics, accessories, etc.)

PASO 1. SEPARAR POR ZONAS

Es muy importante tener el armario separado por zonas ¡en la medida de lo posible! ya que a mí me ayuda siempre a mantener el orden y además facilita la limpieza. Por ejemplo, si compartís armario puedes separar una zona para cada uno, y dentro de ese espacio, separar vuestra ropa por colores y según su uso: para trabajar, para hacer deporte, para estar en casa, y también separar zapatos y complementos (bolsos, cosméticos, accesorios, etc.)

STEP 2. GARMENT THAT GOES IN, GARMENT THAT COMES OUT

It is perhaps one of the best advice I can give you, since I have been practicing it for years and it is totally true that it helps to keep the wardrobe under control and avoid unnecessary expenses, since in the end you usually buy only what you really like and you need.

PASO 2. PRENDA QUE ENTRA, PRENDA QUE SALE

Es quizás uno de los mejores consejos que puedo daros, ya que yo lo llevo practicando desde hace años y es totalmente cierto que ayuda a mantener el armario bajo control y evitar gastos innecesarios, ya que al final sueles comprar sólo lo que realmente te gusta y necesitas.

STEP 3. CLEAN AND ORGANIZE EACH SEASON

Which means that, at least two to four times a year, it's convenient to take everything out to thoroughly clean the closet, organize and fold all the clothes well, and in my case, I take the opportunity to look what I need to throw away or recycle something I haven't worn it in a long time.

PASO 3. LIMPIAR Y ORGANIZAR CADA TEMPORADA

Lo cual significa que, al menos de dos a cuatro veces al año es conveniente sacar todo para limpiar a fondo el armario, organizar y doblar bien toda la ropa, y en mi caso aprovecho para mirar a ver si necesito tirar o reciclar algo si veo que hace mucho tiempo que no me lo pongo.

CÓMO ORGANIZAR Y LIMPIAR TU CASA EN TAN SÓLO 5 DÍAS.

Como cada año por estas fechas, me he tomado unos días para reorganizar y hacer limpieza en casa. Para ello, he seguido algunos consejos de organización de Marie Condo, y por otro lado, he querido sumarme al reto de cómo organizar tu casa en sólo 5 días que nos propone Rocío en su blog Casa Haus: "7 días para ordenar tu casa fácil y rápido". Espero que os sirva de inspiración... ;)

// As every year, I have taken some few days to reorganize and clean at home, with some organization ideas from Marie Condo, and also Rocío´s organizing post at her blog, Casa Haus: "7 days to order your house easily and quickly". So I hope they will inspire you too... ;)

Tal y como aconseja Rocío en su post sobre ordenación, he dedicado un día por cada habitación ¡y efectivamente la tarea se me ha hecho mucho más fácil!. Hoy os voy a enseñar en detalle cómo ha quedado nuestro armario (modelo Pax de IKEA), y en sucesivas semanas, os iré enseñando cómo quedó el resto de habitaciones...

DÍA 1.   LUNES: EL ARMARIO

El proceso: primero saca toda la ropa y complementos cuidadosamente, y separalos en tres grupos (para volver a guardar, para donar y para reciclar). Una vez vacío, aspira bien todo y pasa un paño ligeramente húmedo. Cuelga primero las prendas que quieres tener a la vista (organizadas por colores y largura) y si puedes, separa los abrigos y chaquetas del resto de la ropa, utilizando siempre el mismo tipo de percha colocadas en el mismo sentido dentro del armario. Después, organiza los cajones con separadores o cajas para cada tipo de prenda (ropa interior, calcetines, camisetas lisas y estampadas, jerséis finos, ropa de deporte, etc). Puedes aprovechar los huecos que quedan en el armario para poner otras prendas o complementos que no ocupen mucho (pijamas, caja de tela con bufandas, cajitas transparentes para gafas, bisutería y perfumes, y los dos o tres bolsos que más uses). Otra idea es colocar un pequeño perchero extraíble para collares y bolsos en el interior del armario. Y sobre los zapatos... puedes guardar los que sean para ocasiones especiales y los de otra temporada en cajas en la parte de arriba del armario, y los de uso diario en la parte más accesible del armario, en cajas de tela o transparentes, o en una cesta extraíble (todo de IKEA).

Seguramente pensaréis que como tengo tan poca ropa y zapatos, me resulta muy fácil tener así de bonito y organizado el armario... ¡y es cierto!. Pero en realidad me ha costado años acostumbrarme a reducir al mínimo mi armario. Mi truco ha sido usar sólo cuatro colores neutros (fácilmente combinables), y minimizar la ropa, los complementos y los zapatos a lo más imprescindibles. Y sinceramente ¡cada vez estoy más convencida de que no hace falta mucho más! ;)

DAY 1.   MONDAY: THE CLOSET

// The process: first remove all the clothes and accessories carefully and separate them into three groups (to save again, to donate and to recycle). Once empty, vacuum well and wipe slightly damp. First hang the items you want to have in view (by colors and length) and separate the coats and jackets from the rest. Use the same type of hanger placed in the same direction inside the closet. Then, organize the drawers with dividers or boxes for each type of garment (underwear, socks, plain and patterned t-shirts, fine sweaters, sportswear, etc.). Put your favorite accessories in fabric boxes or  transparent boxes (glasses, jewelry and perfumes) and two or three bags that you use the most, and also place a small removable coat rack for necklaces. And about shoes... save those for special occasions at the top of the closet, and those of daily use in the most accessible part of the closet in boxes or in a removable basket (all from IKEA).

Surely you´ll think that I have very little clothes and shoes and that's how easy to have them organized... but in fact, it has taken me years to get used to reducing my wardrobe! My trick has been to use only four neutral colors (easily combinable), and to reduce to the maximum the clothes,  accessories and shoes that I use every day. Sincerely... I believe that we don´t need much more! ;)

DÍA 2.   MARTES: EL ARMARIO DEL BAÑO

// El proceso es bastante parecido al del armario ropero: vacía y limpia los cajones, baldas y encimera muy bien, luego separa los productos en dos grupos (para volver a guardar y para reciclar o tirar) y organizalos según su uso diario y tamaño en cestas o cajas trasparentes (IKEA). También puedes separar los productos según quién los use, colocando en los cajones o baldas más accesibles los de uso diario, y en los huecos menos accesibles los productos que casi no se usen. En la encimera es mejor minimizar al máximo para facilitar la limpieza: coloca una bandeja pequeña (de H&Home) con lo que más uses a diario (maquillaje, cremas...) y pon alguna planta natural para alegrar el espacio. ¡Y aquí tenéis el resultado de cómo ha quedado la encimera del baño! ;)

DAY 2.   TUESDAY: BATHROOM FURNITURE

// The process was quite similar to the wardrobe: empty everything and clean it well, separate the products into two groups (to store again and to recycle or throw away) and organize them according the daily use and size in baskets or transparent boxes (IKEA). You can also separate the products according to who uses them, placing in the most accessible drawers or shelves for daily use. On the countertop, you can minimize to facilitate cleaning: put a small tray (from H&M Home) with what is most used daily (makeup, creams...) and some natural plants to brighten the space. And below you have the result of our bathroom countertop! ;)

DÍA 3. MIÉRCOLES: DESPENSA & BARRA DE DESAYUNO

// De nuevo, saca todo lo que haya en las baldas y en la encimera y limpia todo bien. Separa en dos grupos los productos de consumo y también el menaje (para guardar y para reciclar o tirar). Organízalos por tipo de alimento y fecha de caducidad, guardando todo lo que puedas en tarros de cristal o cerámica (para mantener la frescura y que se vea el contenido). Mi truco es intercalar algún elemento decorativo en las baldas para crear dinamismo y darle personalidad. ¡Y no te olvides de poner alguna planta natural para dar más color!. Aquí os enseño como es nuestra despensa y la barra de desayuno (más fotos aquí)...

DAY 3. WEDNESDAY: PANTRY & BREAKFAST BAR

// The same process: remove everything on the shelves and countertop and clean everything well. Separate into two groups (to save and to recycle or throw - consumer products and also household). Organize the products by type of food and expiration date, keeping everything you can in glass or ceramic jars lid to maintain freshness and see the content. My trick is to intersperse some decoration item on the shelves to create dynamism and make it more attractive. And don´t forget to put some natural plant to give color!. Below you can our pantry and the breakfast bar (see more pictures here)...

DÍA 4. JUEVES: CUARTO INFANTIL

Una vez hayas sacado todo lo puedes separar en tres grupos (para guardar, para donar y para reciclar/tirar). Limpia bien los muebles y guarda los juguetes más pequeños en cajas o en distintos cajones según el tamaño o tipo de juego/actividad (legos, muñecos duros o con accesorios, disfraces, etc.). Lo ideal es situar a la altura del niño lo que más use, y también puedes organizar los libros y el material artístico en baldas según su tamaño y uso (los cuentos más pequeñitos los tengo metidos en una caja de madera). En cuanto a los peluches y muñecos blanditos, mi consejo es guardarlos en una cesta grande o bolsa resistente que sea maleable para que no cojan mucho polvo. Y recuerda que es mejor utilizar muebles funcionales y neutros que se puedan mover o adaptar a sus necesidades según vayan creciendo. Así estaba el cuarto de nuestra hija (ver más aquí)... ¡y muy pronto os enseñaré cómo ha quedado ahora! ;)

DAY 4. THURSDAY: KIDSROOM  

// Once separated into three groups (to save, to donate and to recycle/throw), clean well and store the smallest toys in boxes or drawers according to the size or type of game/activity. The ideal is to place in accessible areas what children use the most, and also organize the books by size and use (I put the little ones in a wooden box). Keep soft toys and dolls in a large basket or sturdy bag so they don´t pick up dust. And remember that it is better to use functional and neutral furniture that can be moved or adapted as they grow. Here is our daughter's room (see more)... and very soon I´ll show you how your fourth one has been! ;)

DÍA 5. VIERNES: ZONA DE TRABAJO

Como siempre, vacía todos los muebles y separa todo lo que sea para guardar o reclicar (libros, cables, hardware, cd´s, carpetas, papeles, material de papelería, etc). Limpia bien todos los muebles y después piensa en la distribución que ahorre más espacio o que te resulte más agradable: con la mesa en L perpendicular a la pared, frente a la ventana o de cara a la pared. Después, organiza todo el material, libros y objetos según su uso, guardando lo que más utilices cerca de ti. Mi truco es tener el mínimo papel impreso e intentar mantener la mesa despejada para facilitar la limpieza. Puedes usar elementos de ordenación bonitos y del mismo modelo o color, y por último, busca soluciones para esconder los cables y enchufes (dentro del mueble, en cajas o con organizadores bajo la mesa como el de IKEA). Y así estaba mi espacio de trabajo (ver aquí) ¡y muy pronto también os enseñaré cómo ha quedado después de la limpieza! ;D

DAY 5. FRIDAY: WORKSPACE 

// As always, take out and separate everything to save or recite (books, cables, hardware, CDs, folders, papers, stationery, etc). Clean all the furniture well and then think of the distribution that saves more space or that is more pleasant for you: with the L-shaped table perpendicular to the wall, facing the window or a wall. Then organize all the material and objects according to their use, saving what you use most close to you. My trick is to have the minimum printed paper and try to keep the table clear to facilitate cleaning. Also use nice sorting elements, with same model or color, and  finally, look for solutions to hide the cables and plugs (inside the cabinet, or with organizers under the table as IKEA, or hidden inside beautiful boxes). And so was my workspace (see here) and very soon I will also show you how it is now! ;D

Bueno ¡pues espero que os haya gustado el resultado de todo este proceso!. Me han quedado muchas cosillas por mejorar en los próximos meses ¡pero por lo demás estoy muy contenta con el resultado!. Muy pronto os enseñaré cómo han quedado el resto de espacios... ¡gracias por pasaros y feliz semana a todos! ;D

As you can see, they're all such versatile, practical and timeless items that I'm sure I'll be using them not only all winter and during Spring, but they'll also serve me for years to come... So I hope you like them and that they serve as inspiration! :)

Some days ago an Instagram follower asked me for some ideas to decorate her small rental apartment ... and since my husband and I lived for five years in a small apartment of only 24 m2, it seemed a good idea to write a post about decoration of small spaces, in case it inspires you!.

IDEAS PARA DECORAR UN APARTAMENTO O UN PEQUEÑO PISO DE ALQUILER

// Hace pocos días una seguidora de Instagram me pedía algunas ideas para decorar su pequeño piso de alquiler... y como mi marido y yo vivimos durante cinco años en un pequeño apartamento de tan sólo 24 m2, me pareció una buena idea escribir un post sobre decoración de espacios pequeños ¡por si os sirve de inspiración!.

1. IDEAS PARA EL SALÓN:

- Elige un sofá ligero sin brazos en tono claro.

- Usa una silla o puf como mesa de centro.

- Almacena en las paredes mejor que en el suelo.

- Decora con objetos ligeros o transparentes.

- Elige una alfombra clara que amplíe visualmente.

- Usa textiles en tonos claros con un toque de color.

- Coloca un espejo grande que multiplique la luz.

- Elige la TV según el tamaño de la sala.

1. IDEAS FOR THE LIVING-ROOM:

- Choose a light sofa without arms in a light tone.

- Use a chair or pouf as a coffee table.

- Stores on the walls better than on the floor.

- Decorate with light or transparent objects.

- Choose a light rug that visually expands the room.

- Use textiles in light tones with a touch of color.

- Place a large mirror that multiplies the light.

- Choose the TV according to the size of the room.

2. CREA UNA 'ZONA VERDE' MULTIUSO:

- Si no tienes terraza, usa un espacio junto a la ventana.

- Utiliza muebles de exterior extensibles o plegables.

- Pon una alfombra de fibras naturales.

- Instala una balda junto a la ventana para comer o trabajar.

- Coloca plantas naturales de diferentes tamaños.

- Crea un chill-out con cojines en el suelo.

- Coloca visillos blancos en vez de cortinas.

2. CREATE A MULTIPURPOSE 'GREEN ZONE':

- If you don't have a terrace, use a space next to the window.
