Hi everyone! Although we're still enjoying our summer vacation, I wanted to
share the quick trip my sister and I took to the beautiful city of LISBON (Portugal). I'd never been, but I loved its cheerful and colorful atmosphere,
the bustle of its well-worn streets, the monumental and historic
architecture, and of course, its beautiful ceramics and all the little
corners filled with art! I hope you like it, and I'll be bringing you more
photos of our vacation and the renovation we did at home before summer very

Lisbon's Pink Street is one of the most famous streets in the Portuguese capital, with its pink pavement, colorful umbrellas, and nightlife giving it a special charm. Lisbon's waterfront promenade is located in the Cais do Sodré waterfront area, which was historically the city's port and is now a vibrant riverside entertainment and nightlife hub.
// La llamada Calle Rosa de Lisboa (Pink Street) es una de las más famosas de la capital portuguesa, con su pavimento rosa, sus paraguas de colores y su ambiente nocturno que le dan un encanto especial. Y el paseo marítimo de Lisboa se encuentra situado en el área ribereña de Cais do Sodré, que históricamente fue el puerto de la ciudad y ahora es un vibrante centro de ocio y vida nocturna junto al río.
Across the riverbank, you can see the 110-meter-high Christ the King monument, designed by artist Francisco Franco de Sousa, and the biggest tourist attraction in the municipality of Almada, along with the famous beaches of Costa da Caparica and the great Suspension Bridge "25 de Abril" by architect Ray M. Boynton.

After a well-deserved rest, we continued our walk through downtown Lisbon, where we discovered wonderful and original shops such as The Fantastic World of the Portuguese Sardine, an extravagant, circus-like shop that sells cans of Portuguese sardines with different personalized designs...

Above, you can see part of Lisbon Cathedral (Sé de Lisboa), the oldest and most important church in the city, predominantly Romanesque in style, although it also incorporates Gothic elements. The classic yellow Tram 28 runs along this same street, covering some of Lisbon's most picturesque and hilly areas, including the area near the Cathedral...

You can't leave Lisbon without seeing and learning about
Portuguese ceramics! It's world-renowned for its artistic beauty and durability, thanks to the Moorish influences that arrived in the area in the 8th century via Spain. It later evolved to become a symbol and hallmark of Portuguese art. You'll see
traditional decorative tiles (and also avant-garde ones created by contemporary artists) on the facades of houses and large monuments, but also in small galleries and shops, like this small factory we loved in the Alfama neighborhood (
XVIII - Azulejo & Faiança), which you can follow on Instagram...

¡No te puedes marchar de Lisboa sin ver y conocer la cerámica portuguesa!. Y es que es reconocida mundialmente por su belleza artística y durabilidad, gracias a las influencias moriscas que llegaron a la zona en el siglo VIII a través de España, y que evolucionó posteriormente hasta convertirse en un símbolo y seña de identidad del arte portugués. Verás azulejería decorativa tradicional (y también de vanguardia creada por artistas actuales) en las fachadas de las casas y en grandes monumentos, pero también en las pequeñas galerías y comercios, como esta pequeña fábrica que nos encantó en el barrio de Alfama (XVIII - Azulejo & Faiança) que podéis seguir en Instagram...
In the image below, you can see the Gracia Viewpoint, which offers one of the best views of Lisbon and is located in the Alfama neighborhood. Right next to it are the Convent of Our Lady of Grace, which were built in the 13th century but rebuilt in the Baroque style of the time after the famous earthquake of 1755.

On one of the streets in Lisbon's old town, we discovered the work of one of my favorite current artists,
JAN NOAH, a contemporary painter of Egyptian origin currently living in France. You can see how he created this wonderful work on the facade in this link to his Instagram account
