OUR FAMILY TRIP TO ANDALUSIA. PART I: BAEZA (JAÉN) AND GRANADA CITY

Last May Long Weekend (which is a short period of about five days vacation in Spain) we took the opportunity to organize a family trip with our friends to the city of Granada, to tour the entire old area, see in detail all its monuments, and in my case, because I needed to reconnect with my roots again, since my paternal family lives there and we had not visited them for many years (since we stopped spending summers in Andalusia). Furthermore, since those days coincided with the celebration of the traditional festival of the Crosses in Granada, it was even more special to enjoy an incredible atmosphere in the city...

BAEZA (JAÉN)

Leaving Madrid early in the morning, and as a stopover on the way to Granada, we made an obligatory stop in the beautiful town of Baeza (located next to Úbeda in the province of Jaén, and both declared World Heritage Sites in 2003) to eat and take a walk through its quiet and beautiful medieval-style streets...

// Saliendo de Madrid temprano por la mañana, y como pilla de paso de camino a Granada, hicimos una parada obligatoria en el precioso pueblo de Baeza (situado junto a Úbeda en la provincia de Jaén, y declarados ambos Patrimonio de la Humanidad en 2003) para comer al mediodía y aprovechar para dar un paseo por sus tranquilas y bonitas calles de estilo medieval...

GRANADA

After our stop in Baeza, we continued on our way for a couple more hours to the city of Granada, where we rented a family apartment (for 7-8 people) for our five-day stay (the most recommended and cheapest option to stay in the city center if you're traveling as a family). For a couple of days we toured the most important monuments of the city on foot with our children and discovered some beautiful and magical corners hidden in the old Albaicín neighborhood, which you can see in detail below...

// Después de nuestra parada en Baeza, seguimos camino durante un par de horas más hasta la ciudad de Granada, en el que alquilamos un piso familiar (para 7-8 personas) para nuestra estancia de cinco días (la opción más recomendable y barata para alojarse en el centro de la ciudad si se viaja en familia). And after all day walking and exploring the city with all its corners, we finally decided to make a stop to try the typical traditional Arab dishes, accompanied by some natural juices and some magnificent sweet crepes for dessert, which we tasted in one of the most beautiful tea shops that can be found throughout the Albaicín neighborhood (Kasbah Granada), which you can see in detail here...

// Y después de todo el día caminando y recorriendo la ciudad con todos sus rincones, por fin decidimos hacer una parada para probar los típicos platos tradicionales árabes, acompañados de unos zumos naturales y unas magníficas crepes dulces de postre, que degustamos en una de las teterías más bonitas que se pueden encontrar por todo el barrio del Albaicín (Kasbah Granada), que puedes ver en detalle aquí...
